This webinar describes an ambitious project to create global metrics of the ESG impacts and risks of infrastructure assets using the latest advances in machine learning.
In this session, we present the findings of the first publication of the EDHECinfra/Natixis Research Chair on ESG and infrastructure investment. We conduct a comparative review of 17 tools, standards and frameworks currently used by infrastructure investors to report and assess ESG performance. Using a newly minted EDHECinfra taxonomy of ESG impacts and risks, we analyse how existing schemes compare in terms of scope (the ESG perimeter), weights (materiality) and measurement (data) as well as orientation (impacts vs risks), metric (quantitative vs qualitative) and indicator types (input, process, output, etc.).
The webinar also outlines a roadmap for the development of science-based ESG metrics specifically for the purpose of investing in infrastructure, in the context of a new EDHECinfra 5-year research plan to develop global, objective, observable metrics of the ESG risks and impacts of infrastructure assets and companies.
